Project – October 25, 2008
What?
October 25th was a fun day for WildPlaces. It was a day when we honored all of the volunteers and members that make our work possible.
Youth Mandala – Lilia Valencia, the renowned artist from Mexico City, ventured to Springville to create a mandala honoring youth and in particular, WildPlaces youth volunteers and participants. Using sawdust from the local lumber mill that was dyed over 20 vibrant colors, youth and other volunteers helped make a large mandala representing the duality of life and death. The mandala remained on display in the Springville Park for a full week!
Open Office – WildPlaces hosted an open office later that evening where attendees were treated to good food and drink as well as informative presentations about our 2008 projects. During the presentations WildPlaces was honored with awards from the United States Congress, the California State Senate, and the USDA Forest Service.
Why?
Our members and volunteers are the backbone of WildPlaces. This was our time to give thanks and report on what we have done in 2008.
Who?
Members, volunteers, community members, the USDA Forest Service and many others.
