What?

Students and volunteers work in the garden.Students from La Sierra High School in Porterville spent a semester researching, designing and planting a native plant garden at Circle J Norris ranch near Springville. This student service leaning project was supported by WildPlaces staff, Circle J Norris Ranch and volunteers.

Why?

Students and volunteers work in the garden.Hands on experience is an important part of effective education and learning that results in action. This project gave its participants important experience in: native plants, soil science, irrigation and drainage techniques, group work skills, leadership skills and much more. In addition, the new garden will be an education point for the hundreds of students who use Circle J Norris each month.

Circle J Norris Ranch is an outdoor education facility operated by the Tulare County Office of Education near Springville. La Sierra is a continuation high school in Porterville. Biology class students participated in the garden project.

Where?

In the North Folk Tule River valley on Yokohl Valley road.
