The Goldman Environmental Prize Ceremony is held at the San Francisco War Memorial Opera House every April and is by invitation only. WildPlaces has 19 tickets for adult and youth volunteers. We still have tickets available for youth to attend. Students will be staying at Fort Mason Youth Hostel on Monday night post ceremony. Cost is $30-50 (sliding scale) and includes meals and lodging and transportation. Contact Chico at 415.254.8447 and Xico@wildplaces.net to get more info and reserve a spot
More than 3,000 people attend the always packed, emotion-filled event. The ceremony features short documentary films to provide an introduction to the Prize recipients and their accomplishments. A member of the Goldman family presents the recipients with their Ouroboros statuettes, following the recipients’ address to the audience.
Our youth will have the opportunity to meet some of the prize winners before the ceremony announces to the world who the winners are. This is a magnificent event.
The celebration continues at a reception at San Francisco City Hall featuring organic and seasonal ingredients where every effort to compost and recycle, keeping the celebration as sustainable as possible.
