Volunteers are needed to plant Giant sequoia seedlings at the Trail of 100 Giants on several planting events this winter occurring after the first rains of winter and before snow closes the Western Divide. It's a small window to plant big trees (in about 2,000 years), and we need your help. Otis College of Art and Design has grown another 100 seeds to seedlings and WildPlaces is now in possession and position to take the reins from there.
Volunteers will meet at WildPlaces Saturday at 4 p.m. for packing and loading of the trucks and to enjoy a slide show and dinner to get to know other volunteers. Camp over or use one of Springville''s many marvelous accommodations. and then we head up the hill Sunday morning at 9 a.m. to the Trail of 100 Giants and plant as many of the 100 seedlings that we can before ending the day at 1 p.m.
IT IS IMPORTANT TO CHECK THE UPDATES ON PLANTINGS PAGE HERE ON THIS WEBSITE PRIOR TO THE EVENT TO RECEIVE IMPORTANT DETAILS AND CHANGES TO EVENTS.
For this planting, we are hoping rain to make soil conditions good enough to plant. If it doesn't , we will not plant; however other scouting and nursery preparations and planning can and will substituted
WildPlaces provides tools, gloves, and limited transportation plus potluck dinner and slide show on Saturday night.
The 100 Giants Project is co-sponsored by WildPlaces and Otis College of Art and Design with funding from members like you.
Please reach Mehmet at 760.447.1702 and firstname.lastname@example.org for details and to sign up. If there is no rain by planting dates, we will likely postpone the planting until soil conditions are better, so be sure to check in for upates.
